Former Western Springs Trustee Announces Campaign For District 24 State Senator

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — A Western Springs resident and former trustee has announced her candidacy for State Senator of the 24th District. According to a release, Democrat Suzy Glowiak is inspired to bring responsible decision-making back to state government.

“The people in District 24 are tired of watching important directives stalled by political division,” Glowiak said in a release. “Education and economic reform should not take a backseat to petty partisanship.”

According to the release, Glowiak has had an accomplished career as a mechanical engineer. Her decades of experience as an expert witness sharpened her ability to think on her feet and speak clearly while standing her ground in the courtroom.

Glowiak said during her time as a Trustee for the Western Springs Village Board, she was a voice for sound fiscal policies and protecting the taxpayers’ dollars while improving infrastructure. During her eight years as trustee, she worked to attract new businesses through a downtown redevelopment plan, and chaired the Public Works and Water committee through the construction of a new water purification plant.

In 2014, Glowiak was the Democratic candidate for the Illinois Senate in District 24 and enjoyed learning about the important issues affecting families throughout the district, according to a release.

Glowiak has been a Western Springs resident for 25 years, and is an active volunteer in her community.

“With my roots based at the local level, I believe I can bring new energy and ideas to a political climate mired in selfishness and resentment," Glowiak said in a release. "The people of Illinois deserve a candidate who is interested in working for the betterment of all people, not just those on one side of the aisle or the other. I believe I am that person.”

District 24 includes the communities of: Darien, Elmhurst, Oak Brook, Wheaton, Elmhurst, Oak Brook Terrace, Clarendon Hills, Hinsdale, Villa Park, Westmont, Western Springs, Downers Grove, Glen Ellyn, Lombard and Willowbrook.
