Gun Stolen From Unlocked Car In Western Springs: Cops
Another unlocked car with the key fob inside was stolen, police say.
WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — A semiautomatic handgun was stolen last week from an unlocked car parked in an unsecured garage, police said. It was one of four car burglaries the same night.
The gun theft occurred overnight Nov. 23 in the 4100 block of Grove Avenue.
According to a police report, someone ransacked the car and took the handgun. The weapon's loaded magazine was left behind, police said.

According to police reports, here's what happened in the other car break-ins:
- Two suspects entered a resident's unlocked car about 3 a.m. Nov. 24 in the 4200 block of Western Avenue. Then they entered the homeowner's garage, using the garage door opener from the car. The resident did not report anything stolen from the car or garage. The suspects left in two black sedans before police arrived.
- An unlocked car was stolen, possibly with a key fob inside the vehicle, overnight Nov. 23 in the 1000 block of Hickory Drive.
- An unlocked car was burglarized between 10 p.m. Nov. 23 and 8 a.m. Nov. 24 in the 1500 block of Oak Street. A garage door opener was stolen.
