Highlands Lions Club Dedicated To Saving Kids' Sight!
FREE Vision Screening for Infants and Toddlers at Highlands Middle School, Saturday, March 10th, 9 AM - Noon
The Highlands Lions Club, serving the greater LaGrange Highlands area, is hosting a preventative eye-health screening for infants and toddlers, Saturday, March 10 from 9 AM to Noon at Highlands Middle School.
The screening is completely free, no appointment is needed; first come, first served. It is available to all area families and children.
Taking less than one minute, this completely non-invasive procedure is done using an imaging camera while the child sits in the parent's lap.
Many vision problems can be avoided when caught in their earliest stages, long before the child knows he, or she, cannot see clearly. Young children are not able to articulate their own poor vision, alerting their parents to the problem.

Regardless of the child's age, the imaging process used for “Saving Kid’s Sight” checks for possible vision irregularities, determining if further examination by a pediatric optometrist or ophthalmologist is needed.
If a visual irregularity presents itself, a printed computerized assessment is given to the parent to take to their pediatrician for follow-up on the condition.

Children do not outgrow vision abnormalities. Poor early-childhood vision can lead to learning challenges and behavioral problems, as well as costly medical procedures. Some statistics indicate that as many as 80% of vision problems can be resolved when addressed early in very young children.
The "Saving Kids' Sight" Lions eye-health screening specifically targets such muscle imbalances as amblyopia and astigmatism, as well as near-sightedness and far-sightedness.
"Saving Kid's Sight" is a community service presented by the Lagrange Highlands Lions Club, and Lions District 1-A V.O.I.C.E.S. Like us on Facebook.
