Hinsdale Orchestra and Chorus to Perform in Naperville June 25, 2017
Music from the Movies some written by John Williams and Leonard Bernstein
The Hinsdale-based West Suburban Symphony and its chorus, under the baton of internationally acclaimed conductor Peter Lipari, perform popular music from the movies at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, June 25, at Wentz Concert Hall, 171 E. Chicago Avenue, Naperville.
The concert presents music from movies from the 1930s to today, including The Wizard of Oz, Singin’ in the Rain and other MGM classics, West Side Story, The Magnificent Seven, Victory at Sea, Prince of Egypt, and Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Specially featured is music from four movies scored by John Williams: Amistad, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Empire of the Sun, and - Home Alone. “With Home Alone, we’re looking forward six months, with a little Christmas music in June,” says Society President Richard Lukes.
Lipari, who has led orchestras, bands, choruses, and musical stage productions in the United States and abroad to rave reviews for more than 20 years, has served as the Society’s music director since 2001.
