WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Western Springs Village Hall is generally in good shape, but the police department's part of the building needs upgrades, a consultant said this week.

"The current condition of the police facilities within this building are inadequate," Rich Gallas of Baxter & Woodman told the Village Board.

The lockup, in particular, is an issue, he said.

"When someone is apprehended, the police department has to sometimes work with adjacent communities to handle those folks who are going to be incarcerated for whatever reason," Gallas said. "The shortcomings of the police facilities really rose to the top for the needs for (Village Hall)."

Overall, though, Village Hall has no structural defects, with its heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems working fine, Gallas said.
