Jan. 6 Riot: Indian Head Park Woman Sentenced For Role
Texts show she knew she did wrong entering the U.S. Capitol during the riot, authorities said.

INDIAN HEAD PARK, IL – An Indian Head Park woman was sentenced Thursday to two weeks in jail for her role in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.
Leticia Ferreira, who is a Brazilian citizen, must pay $500 in restitution and spend three years on probation, a federal judge ruled.
Ferreira, who lives in the 6800 block of Joliet Road, pleaded guilty to a charge of parading, demonstrating and picketing in the Capitol.

Ferreira took photos and video while she was in the Capitol building, according to federal documents. During one of the videos, shortly after Ferreira entered the Senate Wing door, building alarms could be heard.
According to authorities, Ferreira's texts indicated she knew she broke the law.

After she left the Capitol, Ferreira texted another person, asking whether law enforcement would pursue everyone who walked in the Capitol area.
The other person responded, "Don't be sad. Be prepared. We are all f-----." And then the person wrote, "If there were cameras, they are going to go after them."
Ferreira, who wore a beanie with Donald Trump's name during the riot, said she was irresponsible for going into the building. She said she went in with "this nice family."
When Ferreira told the other person she only walked in, the other person wrote, "You are probably OK. I think they are more worried about the people that broke through the barriers."
Federal authorities said Ferreira did not appear to take part in any assaults on officers. Officials described Ferreira as cooperative.
Under her plea deal, Ferreira agreed to continue to cooperate with the police.
