A deck adds living space to a home and can serve as an entertainment area, playroom, or quiet getaway spot. As an extension of the house, it requires the same level of design detail. During this Kennedy Gardening Lecture, principles of designing a deck (style, shape, scale, proportion, and material) will be addressed. Design options for stairs, rails, benches, and skirts will also be explored.
