Lion newspaper issue places 8th in Best of Show

Congratulations to Lyons Township High School’s Lion newspaper and staffers who brought home awards from the recent National Scholastic Press Association and Journalism Education Association national high school journalism convention in Orlando, FL.

The October 23, 2015, issue of the paper with the lead story “LT staff responds to recent tragedy” placed eighth in Best of Show for broadsheet newspapers. With more than 6,000 attendees from the U.S., England and even South Korea, it was one of the largest conventions to date.

In total, over 2,000 students participated in 50 contests, with just 712 students recognized as award winners. LT staffers brought home two of the 145 Superior awards and two of the 363 Honorable Mention awards.
