Loan Fraud, ID Theft: Western Springs

A $35,000 loan request is fraudulently made in a resident's name, report says.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — The Western Springs Police Department released its latest blotter. Here is information from the reports:

  • A resident in the 4000 block of Grand Avenue informed police Dec. 1 that a $35,000 loan request through LendingClub was fraudulently made in the resident's name.
  • A resident in the 4600 block of Clausen Avenue informed police Dec. 1 that an account with AT&T was fraudulently opened under her maiden name and has an outstanding balance of $2,000.
  • In the last week, police took nine reports in which claims for unemployment benefits were fraudulently made in residents' names. The crimes were listed as identify theft.
  • Arturo Jimenez, 30, of Chicago, was arrested about 11 a.m. Thursday in the 5500 block of Wolf Road on a DuPage County warrant and charges of possession of less than 10 grams of marijuana and speeding.

Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
