LT Adventure Race fun and fitness-packed
Nearly 1,600 physical education students participated in the race at North Campus.
The Physical Welfare Department hosted a one-day adventure race at North Campus, an obstacle race that requires endurance and teamwork. Nearly 1,600 physical education students participated in the race.
The students were in teams of four, but worked in pairs to complete the obstacles, with the other pair keeping time and score. Their final team time was based on all four teammates crossing the finish line.
Participants utilized West Field to complete the 12 events. The events included:

1. Hurdles (over crates which became increasingly higher)
2. Medicine Ball Relay

3. Potato Bag Hop
4. Football Throw (one shot to throw it through the target)
5. Parachute Run (attach a parachute to create drag)
6. Hula Hoop Relay
7. Farmers Carry (carrying two10lb. or two 25 lb. plates across the field)
8. Dizzy Bat (5 spins)
9. Soccer Goal Kick
10. Jump Rope- 25 reps
11. Parallel Bar Walk/15 pushups or 5 pull-ups
12. High Jump
The objective of the small scale adventure race was to have fun while utilizing teamwork skills and finishing this physical and cardio/strength event. PE teacher Katie Meyers was instrumental in orchestrating this event and said, “The adventure race is a way to drive home the fact that physical fitness can be fun. It’s important to remind students that there are lots of ways to stay active and healthy. Working with a partner and as part of a team teaches valuable skills and learning.”
