LTHS business students compete on national stage
Congratulations to eight LT students who competed at the annual National BPA Leadership Conference in Dallas

Congratulations are in order for eight members of the Lyons Township High School Business Professionals of America (BPA) who recently competed in a variety of categories at the annual National BPA Leadership Conference. The BPA national competitions were held in Dallas, Texas.
Two LT students, sophomore Owen McGrath, of Indian Head Park, and senior Jack Dudley, of LaGrange, both took second in their contests: Fundamentals of Web Design/ MTA HTML5 Application Developer Fundamental and Human Resource Management respectively.
BPA member senior Cole Flott, of LaGrange Park, is a four time repeat competitor at nationals, and members sophomore Adam Rohrscheib, of Indian Head Park, and junior Teodora Ljuboja, of LaGrange, also competed in national contests last year as well. Additionally, senior Grace Ashby, of LaGrange, qualified and participated in three categories.
BPA co-sponsor Julie Bryar-Smith says, “Thanks to all of the Business Education and Economics teachers for recruiting, supporting and helping these students prepare. It takes a tremendous amount of hard work to advance to nationals and we are very proud of their showing.” The students are led and coached by Global Studies teachers Julie Bryar-Smith and Krista Wilcox.
Business Professionals of America is a national organization for high school and college students preparing for careers in business and office administration. The organization’s activities and program complement classroom instruction by giving students practical experience through application of skills learned at school. BPA contributes to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic and technological skills.
