Lyons Township High School will be adorned in red October 23-31 in honor of Red Ribbon Week, the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country, which serves as a vehicle for communities and individuals to take a stand and make a commitment to drug prevention and a personal commitment to live drug free lives.
LT is recognizing Red Ribbon Week in a variety of ways, including:
Red Ribbon Breakfast - Tuesday, October 24, 8am: The breakfast is an annual event for community leaders with a presentation reviewing interventions designed to help children increase their resilience. The presenter Jacqueline Rhew, LCPC, CADC served as assistant director for the School Anxiety/School Refusal Program at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital and is now a therapist and clinical liaison at AMITA Health Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital, will provide ideas to share with parents to use at home to promote healthy coping responses.

Wear Red Day - Tuesday, October 24: Students and staff are encouraged to wear red.
IQ Challenge - Students will be encouraged to participate in the 2017 National Drug and Alcohol IQ Challenge, which will be available in both campus libraries. Students who drop off a completed quiz in the library or the counseling office will be entered into a drawing for local gift certificates

Decorate Red - Visual reminders of encouragement of a healthy lifestyle – posters in classrooms and hallways, red ribbons in classroom doorways. Red Ribbon posters made by students freshman Olivia Sznewajs, of LaGrange, freshman Ashley Terry, of Brookfield, and sophomore Samantha Tosch, of Countryside, will be hung at both campuses.
Healthy Choices - Peer Leaders will be greeting students and encouraging healthy choices as they arrive at NC and will be distributing Red Ribbons to teachers to display in their classrooms throughout the week.
-ACE (Athletes Committed to Excellence) student leaders at NC and Snowball leaders at SC will be asking students to name their “anti-drug” and will be handing out Red Ribbon water bottle stickers.
- Additionally, the website will be updated with information for parents and students about making healthy choices, the latest drug trends along with warning signs to watch for and the dangers of substance use and abuse.
