LTHS Steppers take 5th on national stage

Members of the Lyons Township High School Steppers Club recently competed in the Youth Step USA Nationals in New York City

Members of the Lyons Township High School Steppers Club recently competed in the Youth Step USA Nationals in New York City and took 5th place. Competing against 33 other teams, LT had to adapt to a rule which required teams to enter stage right. The LT routine usually has Steppers seated among the audience as an added element of surprise for the routine. Instead, they had to switch their choreography and improvise. Head Coach Tamiaka Killins said, “We prevailed performing our very best for the entire school year!”

In addition to the competition, the Steppers rode the subway train to the Staten Island Ferry to see the Statue of Liberty, visited Columbia University, Broadway, New York University, and even stepped in Times Square with lots of cheers from the huge crowd watching. In addition, they visited Penn Station, the Empire State Building and Madison Square Garden.
