LT's Derning to be inducted into Football Coaches Hall of Fame
Jack Derning to be the third LT football coach to be inducted into the IHSFCA Hall of Fame

Former Lyons Township High School physical education teacher and varsity football coach Jack Derning is scheduled to be inducted into the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame on April 18. Derning joins LT coaches Chuck Bennett and Dick Wojick to be just the third football coach in LT history to be inducted into the IHSFCA Hall of Fame. He was head coach at LT for 19 years and accumulated an impressive record of 106 wins and 78 losses, including two play-off wins.
LT Athletic Director John Grundke says, “Jack continues to be a supporter of the programs here at LT, both on and off the field. He was a great head coach, who taught countless young men how to play and act with class and dignity. Despite the fact that he is no longer on the football staff, he continues to contribute to our program in many ways, including working tirelessly with the Jimmy Reynolds Memorial scholarships.”
