LT's PSI Club fills in as bunny

The Peaceable Schools Initiative (PSI) Club recently filled holiday baskets for Chicago's Off the Streets Club.

The Lyons Township High School Peaceable Schools Initiative (PSI) Club recently filled a record-breaking 170 holiday baskets for needy children at the Off the Streets Club, Chicago’s oldest boys and girls club.

All supplies -- baskets/buckets, toys, books, art supplies, snacks, and more– were donated by LTHS staff, students and community members. Many special thanks to the LT softball team coach Dawn Schabacker and her players who donated several filled baskets, while groups of teachers joined together and donated more than 100 empty baskets ready to be filled.

PSI Club creates a positive, comfortable, and supportive learning environment for all. Through improved conflict resolution and communication skills of students and staff alike, LT works together to improve the way conflict is handled in our school and community.

The Off the Street Club in West Garfield Park provides a safe, supportive environment where the neighborhood’s 4- to 18-year-olds can do their homework or play computer games in the Learning Center; perform plays in the Performing Arts Center; dance, roller skate, sing, and play musical instruments; express themselves through arts and crafts and woodshop; and more.
