LTTV crew member earns coveted scholarship
Senior Max Abrahamson named the recipient of the Jim McKay Memorial Scholarship awarded to a student pursuing a career in sports television

Lyons Township High School senior Max Abrahamson, of LaGrange, was recently named the recipient of the Jim McKay Memorial Scholarship, awarded to a student pursuing a career in sports television. This $10,000 award is from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and is the most significant award won by an LTTV student in the station’s history.
As part of the scholarship presentation, Abrahamson and LTTV advisor Bill Allan attended the Sports Emmy Awards May 8, at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City. A short recap of Max’s work was highlighted at the Emmys, and he had an extraordinary opportunity to meet professionals and internationally known journalists.
Abrahamson has been involved in LTTV since his freshman year. He has been a sports director in the TV Club since his sophomore year and a sports announcer all four years. He produces, shoots and edits his own videos as well. He produced multiple sports news packages, documentaries, feature stories, uniform reveals, sports promos and more.
Abrahamson has been accepted to Ball State’s Sports Link program as an incoming freshman, despite the fact that typical admission to the program isn’t until junior year.
In addition to the Jim McKay Memorial Scholarship, he won 1st place in the Sports category at the Midwest Media Educations Association Video Festival and the Crystal Pillar for sports from the Chicago chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
