WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – A Cicero man admitted to showing his gun in a road rage incident earlier this month in Western Springs, police said.

Roberto Carlos, 22, was arrested on a charge of unlawful use of a weapon.

About 2:30 p.m. April 11, a driver called the police about another driver, later identified as Carlos, who displayed a gun near Ogden Avenue and Wolf Road, authorities said.

The driver described Carlos' car as a black Bentley, but it was actually a black Hyundai Genesis, according to a police report obtained through a public records request.

Officers found the black car on 41st Street, just east of Howard Avenue. Carlos, who was with his brother, said they were there to bid on a landscaping job, police said.

Police said they found a Glock 26 9mm gun in the man's center console, with 10 rounds in the magazine.

Carlos said the other driver almost struck his car. Carlos said he then got out of his car and pulled up his shirt to show the other man a gun in his waistband, according to the report.

Carlos said he had made a mistake, but contended he was alarmed by the other man pulling his car so close to his, police said.

Carlos told officers he had no intention of shooting the other driver. Displaying the gun, he said, was done to protect himself, according to the report.

Carlos was then arrested. He has a firearm owner's identification card, or FOID, police said.

The other driver wanted to remain anonymous because he was on parole, police said.
