Man Shot, Targeted by Drive-by in La Grange, Police Say

A 22-year-old man was shot Jan. 26 around 2:45 p.m. in the 50 block of Washington Avenue, La Grange, in what may have been a drive-by shooting, according to La Grange police.

Police found the man, who had been shot in the lower abdomen, after 911 calls reported a drive by shooting around Calendar Avenue and Washington Avenue. Several people were standing in the street with the man who was shot.

The man was brought to Loyola University Medical Center, police reported, and he is now in stable condition after surgery.

Witnesses told police they heard three to four gunshots, and they saw a grey four-door Dodge leave the area northbound on Washington Avenue.

The La Grange Police Department said the victim was targeted, and this case was not a random shooting. Police believe there is no threat to the community.
