Man Steals Water From Western Springs Hydrant: Cops

The truck driver is seen taking 400 gallons of water, according to a police report.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Western Springs released its latest blotter Monday. Here is information from the reports:

Theft

  • Richard Dorman, 45, of Chicago, was cited about 1 p.m. Sept. 7 on a charge of theft under $300. Dorman was detained after a report that a tanker truck driver pumped water from a fire hydrant in the 4000 block of Lawn Avenue. The driver took about 400 gallons of water, police said. Dorman was issued a citation under a village ordinance.

Trespassing

  • A resident in the 5000 block of Commonwealth Avenue heard her alarm system go off about 2:30 a.m. Nov. 6 while she was upstairs in her home. The downstairs rear sliding door had been accessed. Nothing was reported missing.

Damage

  • A street sign at Ogden and Ellington avenues was reported damaged Tuesday.
  • A political sign was spray-painted in a yard in the 3800 block of Howard Avenue. Also, the lower dash panel on the homeowner's truck was detached. The truck was unlocked. The report was made 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
  • An outer pane of a kitchen window was reported broken Friday at a house in the 4600 block of Wolf Road. The inner pane was intact.
  • A resident in the 4900 block of Creek Drive reported Saturday the rear deck railing was damaged and placed in a nearby creek.

Fraud

  • A resident in the 4400 block of Lawn Avenue told police Oct. 31 that a check she wrote was altered and cashed in the amount of $9,700.
