Music Club's Holiday Music

WSMC Dec 14 2016 program

Western Springs Music Clubs performing members highlighted modern American composers along with music of the holiday season at their December 14th program held at Hinsdale United Methodist Church.

Lisa Goethe McGinn (flute) performed “Soliloquey” (1997) by Lowell Lieberman; “A Night in Greenwich” (1987) by Mike Mower; and “I Wonder as I Wander” arranged by Nicole Chamberlain/Lisa Goethe McGinn.

Soprano Milissa Raub accompanied by pianist Kathi Best performed “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” by Ned Rorem; “Il neige” by Hermann Bemberg; and “Cantique de Noel” (Oh Holy Night) by Adolphe Adam.

Violinist Kate Carter and pianist Louise Chan performed “Variations and Capriccio” by Norman Dello Joio; and Road Movies (Relaxed Groove, Meditative, and 40% Swing) by John Adams.

A festive holiday singalong with pianist Jim Winfield and WSMC members and guests was a delightful finale to the afternoon’s program. The afternoon concluded with tea, coffee, and an assortment of homemade cookies. For information about future programs go to: http://www.wsmusicclub.com.
