Nazareth Academy to Honor Alumni with Four Pillars Awards

Nazareth will present the Four Pillars Awards to acknowledge and honor alumni who are thriving in their communities or careers.

Nazareth Academy’s Alumni Association Advisory Board is pleased to announce a new concept for acknowledging alumni who are making significant contributions in their fields of employment or service.

Beginning in 2015, Nazareth will present the Four Pillars Awards to acknowledge and honor alumni who are thriving in their communities or careers and continue to represent our four pillars of scholarship, service, spirit and unity. One award will be given out for each pillar.

Advisory Board President, Amy Klod Boyle ‘96, says, “The Four Pillars are what Nazareth is all about. The Academy planted these seeds. We (the Board) thought it was time to recognize the tremendous ways in which our Alumni Family seeds have grown.”

We are proud to honor the inaugural recipients:

  • Scholarship: Vicki Scelsi van Alphen ‘93 (Western Springs) currently works as a trusted advisor to CIOs at Gartner Group and has continued her professional education at universities such as Loyola University Chicago and MIT.
  • Service: Rose Mary Sullivan ‘63 (Cicero) spent her life teaching in Catholic schools across Chicagoland. Now retired, she currently volunteers her time teaching social studies to those preparing for their GED.
  • Spirit: Tracey Tarantino DiBuono ‘74 (Oak Brook) has been a long time supporter of Nazareth in countless ways. She and her production company, Zzazz Productions, host our annual Fashion Show year after year where Tracey brings her many talents and contagious spirit to the stage.
  • Unity: Dan Brencic ‘06 (native of Brookfield) is a Health Scientist for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Most recently, Dan traveled to Africa to help in the fight against the spread of ebola.

Nazareth will present the Four Pillars Awards at its annual Alumni Reunion, onSaturday, September 19, 2015. All are welcome at the Alumni and Family Mass in the Congregation of St. Joseph Chapel at 5:00 p.m., followed by an All Class Reunion Celebration at 6:00 p.m. at Nazareth Academy. All alumni are invited to attend, with special emphasis on classes ending in 5s and 0s. Those classes with banner year celebrations are encouraged to have individual class gatherings prior to the Mass or after the Reunion Celebration.
