Nazareth Academy Honors La Grange Park Couple with Call to the Heart Award

Nazareth Academy held its annual Call to the Heart Mass and Reception on Sunday, January 25. This event is a time for Nazareth to thank benefactors who have shared so many of their gifts. These generous supporters make a tremendous difference in the lives of our exceptional students and school.

It is also a time to give special recognition to outstanding members of the Nazareth community with the Call to the Heart Award. The 2015 honorees are Thom and Ann Serafin of La Grange Park. This honor is a testament to their outstanding philanthropy toward Nazareth Academy. The Serafin Family values the mission of Nazareth, heard the call for time, talent and treasure, and responded with their whole hearts.

Thom and Ann Serafin have been longtime supporters of Nazareth Academy as well as their community of La Grange Park. They believe strongly in a deep sense of community and a commitment to others. The ways they show that support are endless. From actively participating in their parish, St. Francis Xavier, to generously supporting Nazareth in many capacities, Thom and Ann grew up helping those around them and have passed that solid foundation down to their sons. While Mitchell ’10 and Matthew ’13 were Nazareth students, they were heavily involved in various service projects and Campus Ministry. Though their sons have graduated, Thom and Ann remain loyal to Nazareth as more than generous supporters. They are embedded in the Nazareth community and very much a part of the Nazareth family.

Both Thom and Ann spoke at Mass, reinforcing their belief in Nazareth. “In educating the whole student, Nazareth provided a solid moral foundation for our boys, something not found in other schools.”

Throughout the Mass, the award presentation and reception, Nazareth students and benefactors were able to gather together, listen to stories and share the bond of community. In person and in a special video, students reflected on the many ways in which Nazareth enriches their lives. They offered heartfelt thanks to all of the donors who make this possible.

Nazareth Academy congratulates this year’s Call to Heart recipients and expresses gratitude to the many benefactors whose generous donations and scholarships make it possible for generation after generation to call Nazareth “home.”
