Nazareth Math Students Among Top in State
Students competed in both individual and team events, earning an overall 10th place finish for the team in Class 2A Competition.

On May 3, 2015, 26 members of Nazareth Academy’s Math Team competed at the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics State Finals in Urbana, IL.
Students competed in both individual and team events, earning an overall 10th place finish for the team in Class 2A Competition. Nazareth students also took 1st place in the 8-person Junior/Senior Team Competition and 1st place in Individual Algebra 2.

Nazareth top 10 state finishes include:
- 10th place Overall: Nazareth Team
- 10th place Pre-Calculus individual: Charles Feng
- 10th place Pre-Calculus team: Charles Feng, Cici Huang, Vivian Li, Kyle Metzger, Meghan Sullivan and Charlie Swarts
- 5th place Geometry team: Xinzic Chen, Eddie Colaianni, Hudson Hu, Cindy Li, Jessica Sullivan and Grace Yuan
- 5th Place Freshman-Sophomore 2-person: Xinzic Chen and Hudson Hu
- 4th place Geometry individual: Hudson Hu
- 4th place Freshman-Sophomore 8-person: Veronica Alfred, George King, Hector Olvera, Tyler Pondel, Xinzic Chen, Eddie Colaianni, Hudson Hu and Cindy Li
- 3rd place Junior-Senior 2-person: Frank Li and Vivian Li
- 1st place Junior-Senior 8-person team: Colin Buenvenida, Charles Feng, Katie Hill, Cici Huang, Frank Li, Evan Rabiela, Aidan Smith and Meghan Sullivan
- 1st place Algebra 2 individual: Frank Li
This marks the second consecutive year Nazareth has medaled in the State-level Math Competition. Nazareth congratulates the entire team who competed all year long and the team’s moderators, math teachers Lorraine Weber and Linda Behrendt.
