No Information On Western Springs Burglaries
Police in another county reported break-ins had occurred in Western Springs.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Burglaries have apparently occurred lately in Western Springs, but that information did not come from local authorities.
Rather, it was reported in a news release from DuPage County prosecutors and Elmhurst police. Western Springs is in Cook County.
The agencies informed the public they arrested a convicted felon from Chicago who was believed to have been driving a car connected to Western Springs break-ins.

According to the news release, Elmhurst officers stopped the car because of its suspected link to crimes in Western Springs. Police said the driver ran away and was later found with a gun, which Patch reported earlier this week.
Asked about the break-ins, village spokeswoman Selmin Cicek said in an email to Patch, "Chief (Sean) Gilhooley confirmed that this is being actively investigated by the WSPD and information cannot be released at this time."

On Wednesday, Western Springs police issued their weekly blotter. It included two arrests of adults for driving violations and charges against two Lyons Township High School students for possession of alcohol and marijuana. But it did not mention burglaries.
Maybe the outside agencies were referring to earlier crimes.
According to a Western Springs blotter last month, electronics valued at $1,000 were stolen from a home's garage between Aug. 8 and Aug. 13 in the 5100 block of Grand Avenue.
The blotter also stated an unlocked car in the 4400 block of Howard Avenue was burglarized overnight Aug. 15. Change and a pair of sunglasses were stolen. The estimated loss was about $20.
The same night, another unlocked car in the same block was burglarized, police said. A tool bag and a tablet were stolen. The loss was estimated at $800.
