Patch Picks: Five Best Local Places to Be For Super Bowl XLV

This week: the best places, other than your sofa, to hit for the Super Bowl!

•  When the burger is as important as the beer: , 56 S. La Grange Road, La Grange, 708-482-7127. Palmer Place not only has incredible award-winning burgers, but boasts an impressive list of beers. I tried to count them all but ran out of fingers at 99.  

•  For the fans that don’t want to miss a thing: Harry’s Sports Bar, 9901 W. 55^th Street Countryside, 708-354-3333. Harry’s web site promises so many game viewing options your favorite team may be visible from space. Go for one of 23 tapped beers, 35 bottled beers, or try a mixed drink. They also offer  a variety of appetizers, pizzas and burgers.

•  Red Devils need not apply: Kenny’s Irish Pub, 917 W. 55^th Street, Countryside, 708-354-0991. Superbowl special includes an open bar from kickoff until the 2 minute warning. 45 bucks will buy you well drinks, all domestic and imported beers plus any item off the menu. Does Kenny’s serve lobster? If you want to bring friends: it’s $180 for a table of 4. Reservations required in advance.

•  For the sofa surfers: 4700 Gilbert Avenue, Western Springs, 708-246-3400. Lou’s has a variety of pizzas in their freezer for easy pick up. You can also choose from several fresh salads to offset the guilt of eating a stuffed pizz-illa.  Don’t want to wait an hour for delivery? You can pick up a half-baked pie in half the time at half-time. They also have crust-free and low-fat cheese options.
