People In Stolen Car Flee Western Springs Crash: Cops

Police received reports of unlocked cars burglarized in local neighborhoods.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Western Springs police released their latest blotter Monday. Here is information from the reports:

Crash

  • The occupants of a stolen car ran away after a crash about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 4900 block of Grand Avenue. The unlocked car had been parked in a driveway when it was stolen. The key fob was inside the car.

  • A car was ransacked about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday in a driveway in the 5400 block of Lawn Avenue. Several items were stolen.
  • An unlocked car was ransacked between midnight and 5 a.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of Franklin Avenue. A garage door opener in the car was used to open the garage, from which several bottles of alcohol were stolen.
  • An unlocked car was ransacked between midnight and 6 a.m. Wednesday in the 4300 block of Woodland Avenue.
  • Three unlocked vehicles were ransacked overnight Tuesday in the 4000 block of Franklin Avenue. Sunglasses and a yoga mat were stolen from the cars.

Porch piracy

  • A package delivered by Amazon was stolen Thursday from a doorstep in the 5500 block of Ridgewood Drive. The item was valued at $500.
