Plans For Old Bridge Site In Western Springs
The new pedestrian bridge is away from the old one, along 47th Street.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – The old pedestrian bridge linking Western Springs and Hinsdale over Interstate 294 has been removed, with the new one on 47th Street open.
Recently, a reader asked Patch about what would become of the property leading to the bridge on Western Springs' side. It is at the west end of Maple Street.
Patch directed the inquiry to Matthew Supert, the village's municipal services director.

In an email, Supert said the ramp and pavement leading up to the bridge would be removed and that the Illinois Tollway has indicated it would restore the area with topsoil and seeding.
A six-foot chain-link fence would also be built to delineate the tollway property line, Supert said. It's like the one already in place for the tollway right-of-way, which will close the gap between the noise abatement walls, he said.

At this time, no changes are expected to be made to the slope, Supert said.
