Tuesdays, 12/2, 9, 16, 23: Advent Companions, 2nd Floor Multi-Purpose Room 9:00am

Join Chaplain Carol in celebration of the season as she leads a group called Advent Companions. We will meet weekly for 30 to 45 minutes to share Advent inspiration and to pray aloud and silently, with special prayers for yourself, your loved ones and the churches you love.

Wednesday, 12/3: Salt Creek Camera Club Exhibit, LL Promenade 10am-7pm

Enjoy the finalists in the Salt Creek Photography Competition. Camera Club meeting tonight in the Education Room at 7:30pm; guests are welcome.

Thursday, 12/4: Ceci Wiselogel: Legends of Christmas, Albert Hall 3:00pm

Celebrate the holidays with a festive program where the legends and customs of the season come to life. Join historical entertainer Ceci Wiselogel as she explains why we kiss under the mistletoe, hang up the stockings, eat candy canes and believe in a jolly old elf called Santa Claus. Unusual olden tales from Bethlehem will also delight you. Enjoy a sparkling display of unique Christmas treasures as well.

Plymouth Place Staff will entertain the residents as a thank you for their most generous holiday gift. Singing, dancing, skits and more are just a few of the talents performed.

The Tower Chimes of First Congregational Church return for a holiday concert. Plymouth Place Chimers will also perform several holiday numbers.

Thirty-five talented students led by instructor Russell Hifano will present an array of holiday favorites.

Sunday, 12/14: Holiday Percussion Concert, Dole Hall 3:00pm

Students led by music instructor Angela Kepley will perform a unique holiday concert featuring percussion instruments such as marimba.

Monday, 12/15: Fall Prevention Workshop, LL Fitness Center 9:00am

Student Physical Therapists from Midwestern University will present a workshop on prevention of falls and ways to avoid this serious issue. Sign up at reception.

Monday, 12/15: A Prairie Holiday with Singer Rick Pickren, Dole Hall 1:00pm

Enjoy a “A Prairie Holiday” welcomes back singer-songwriter, Rick Pickren, who returns to Plymouth Place to present his Singing Cowboy’s renditions of favorite Christmas songs.

Join resident Dick Best with his annual organ concert and sing-along. Join in the Christmas spirit with all your holiday favorites.

Thursday, 12/18: Plymouth Place Chorus and Chimes Concert, Dole Hall 3:00pm

Come enjoy holiday-themed music by our talented residents. The chorus will perform a cantata, “Season of Wonders, Celebrating the Miracle of Christmas”. The chimers will perform several new holiday pieces.

Friday, 12/19: Actress Martina Mathisen presents: The Night before Christmas,

Dole Hall 3:00pm

Join us for a visit from a woman who just stepped out of a time machine, landing in our midst from 1855! She presents the delightful program, ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas, unveiling the truth behind our beloved traditions. Why do we light trees? Why to we kiss beneath mistletoe? Where did our American Christmas traditions come from? Enjoy this engaging and charming program. The sparkling personality of our narrator will capture your imagination as she recounts her father’s famous poem, ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas.

Saturday, 12/20: Blue Nativity, Dole Hall 3:00pm

Embraced by many as a holiday tradition, Blue Nativity returns to Plymouth Place telling the story of the birth of Christ in a most unique way. Using beautiful large-scale puppetry and accompanied by live music, this production is a favorite for audiences of all ages. Blue Nativity breaks the mold of holiday productions with original puppets and live music. Great for all ages.

Enjoy 25 talented young musicians, ages 8-24, performing seasonal music in ensembles.

Wednesday, 12/24: Christmas Eve Carols and Candles Worship Service, Albert Hall 10:30am

You, your family and friends are invited to a Service of Lessons and Carols, which will close singing “Silent Night”. Glory to the new born King!

Blue Christmas is a service of worship for those of us experiencing the holidays in a less than joyful way. Everyone is invited to this service (sometimes called Longest Night), especially those who are lonely, in mourning, feeling

alienated or separated from family celebrations. If you experience depression and sadness at this time of year, come to Blue Christmas. We won’t ask you to ‘put on a happy face’ or deny your true feelings.

Saturday, 12/27: Japanese Culture featuring the Chicago Koto Group, Dole Hall 3:00pm

The Chicago Koto Group was founded in 1985 by Akiko Sugano in order to serve the greater Chicago community by introducing it to Japanese culture and music. They perform at the Chicago Botanic Gardens, the Consulate General of Japan, and Japanese festivals, serving to educate people of all ages about Japanese culture through music (particularly the music of the Koto).

Monday, 12/29: Maxwell Street Klezmer Band, Dole Hall 7:15pm

Back by popular demand and to celebrate the season of Hanukkah, the Maxwell Street Kelzmer Band will get you tapping your toes and swaying to the music while you learn the history of this wonderful music.
