Enjoy the finalists in the Salt Creek Photography Competition. Camera Club meeting is tonight in the Education Room at 7:30pm.

Thursday, 2/5: John Otto’s Swing Band, Dole Hall 2:00pm

Enjoy John Otto on clarinet, along with three others on guitar, piano and bass in a tribute to popular music of the 1920s and 30s.

Friday, 2/6: RJ Lindsey as Abe Lincoln, Dole Hall 1:30pm

Monday, 2/9: William Conway Art History Lecture: Aspects of Love, Dole Hall 1:30pm

Art historian William Conway will give a presentation that illustrates how artists have represented the human condition of Love, from mythology to reality.

Tuesday, 2/10: Cruise to Trinidad and Tobago, Dole Hall 3:00pm

The February cruise around the world destination is Trinidad and Tobago. Residents are encouraged to share any memorabilia they may have and to bring your passport to be stamped.

Tuesday, 2/10: Elmhurst College Lecture: The Harlem Renaissance: Beyond the Jazz, Dole Hall 7:15pm

Professor Janice Tuck Lively will address the racism and image shift that took place during the Harlem Renaissance. Dr. Tuck Lively’s areas of scholarship include the Harlem Renaissance and 19th and 20th century African-American female writers.

Wednesday, 2/11: Accordion and Piano Player Mike Basin of Latvia, Albert Hall 2:30pm

Thursday, 2/12: Art Exhibit Reception, LL Art Gallery 4:00pm

This month’s gallery exhibit, “Birds of a Feather”, features artwork by Dick Keslik, a La Grange Highlands watercolor painter of wildlife.

At the reception, meet him and learn about his paintings. Refreshments will be served.

In honor of National Weddings Month, a special

wedding ceremony officiated by Chaplain Carol Taylor will be held for any couples wishing to renew their marriage vows. See cover story for details. If interested in participating, contact Rita at 482-6805.

Saturday, 214: Valentine’s Day with Nuclear Jazz Quarktet Big Band, Dole Hall 7:15pm

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a special dinner in all dining rooms, followed with music by the Nuclear Jazz Quarktet Big Band, including trumpet, sax, trombone, piano, bass, drums and vocals by Julie Ann Caselli. They’ve accompanied Johnny Mathis, Liza Minnelli, Tony Orlando and Dawn, Carol Channing, Steve Allen, and have appeared at the Sabre Room and on the Oprah Winfrey Show.

Sunday, 2/15: Village Voices, Dole Hall 2:30pm

The Village Voices Chorus of Downers Grove return for a special performance. Our own Plymouth Place Chorus will join them to sing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”.

Wednesday, 2/18: Ash Wednesday Service, Dole Hall 9:30am, and Albert Hall 10:30am

Wednesday, 2/18: Mardi Gras Celebration with the Chicago Hot Five, Dole Hall 7:15pm

Upon popular request we bring back the Chicago Hot Five Band. Enjoy music of the ‘20s and ‘30s, similar to the bands of New Orleans, including those in Preservation Hall.

Woodstock based Potts & Pans Steelband is the largest steelpan organization in Chicagoland, striving to educate and entertain through culture, arts and music.
