Thursday, 1/1: View “The Giver” with Discussion, Dole Hall 2:00pm
We will watch the recently released movie “The Giver”, based on the best-seller novel by Lois Lowry. It is set in a society which is at first presented as a utopian society but gradually appears more and more dystopian. Chaplain Carol Taylor will lead a discussion following the movie.

Friday, 1/2: Cruise to Iceland, Greenland and the High Arctic, Dole Hall 3:00pm
Our first cruise around the world destination for 2015 is to Iceland and Greenland and the High Arctic. Resident Joan DeRycke will lead a travelogue on her trip to these areas. Share any memorabilia you may have and pick up your 2015 passport and get it stamped.

Enjoy the finalists in the Salt Creek Photography Competition. Camera Club meeting tonight in the Education Room at 7:30pm, guests are welcome.
Wednesday, 1/7: Dick Best Annual Organ Holiday Concert, Dole Hall 7:15pm
Join resident Dick Best with his annual organ concert and sing-along. Join in the Christmas spirit with all your holiday favorites. This program was rescheduled from December.
Thursday, 1/8: Meet LaGrange Park Police Chief Rompa, Dole Hall 9:30am
Come meet new LaGrange Park Police Chief Ed Rompa for coffee! He will talk about his vision for the department, as well as share what’s happening in law enforcement in our village and what services are offered to seniors. He will also introduce some of his new officers.
Thursday, 1/8: 4th Annual Resident Art Exhibit Reception, LL Art Gallery, 4:00pm
This month’s gallery exhibit features artwork by our own residents. Come to the reception to meet them and learn about their paintings. Refreshments will be served.

Friday, 1/16: Elmhurst College Lecture: Inamul Haq: Understanding Islam: The Religion and the Politics, Dole Hall 7:15pm
The lecture will consist of 3 parts: belief & practice; political history; and contemporary violence. Professor Inamul Haq is happy to address any questions. Professor Inamul Haq is Program Coordinator of Niebuhr Center for Faith & Action & Adjunct Professor of Islam at Elmhurst College, Elmhurst, IL. He is also an adjunct professor at Catholic Theological Union (CTU) in Hyde Park, Chicago. Previously Mr. Haq has been principal of Islamic Foundation School in Villa Park, recognized by the IL State Board of Education & accredited by North Central Association.

Plymouth Place resident Marge Klindera is known as the Butterball Lady. She trains Butterball employees on how to answer phone inquiries about methods to cook their famous turkey during the holiday season.
Wednesday, 1/21: Claudia Stewart: Inflammation and Food Sensitivities, LL Fitness Room 9:30am
The workshop on Inflammation & Food Sensitivities will explain the hidden role that inflammation plays in many of our health concerns and how food sensitivities can cause some of the inflammation in our bodies. We will also discuss some methods of reducing the inflammation in our bodies and discovering and working around any food sensitivities. Sub-cellular inflammation is the number one cause of degenerative diseases and aging. Claudia is a Health and Weight Loss Coach at Tinnirello Chiropractic in Berwyn.

Fifth Third Bank will be discussing the top 5 most common fraud schemes targeting elderly. Also it’s important to update residents on the recent spike in debit and credit card hacks happening at merchants throughout the nation. We have some great tips to help safeguard your information better and alternative payment methods to use when appropriate.
