POLICE BLOTTER: Pole Theft, Leaving the Scene
Western Springs police reports, July 28 through August 1.

A thief reportedly climbed up and gained access to into two separate locked containers owned by Comcast that were mounted on poles at 47th Street and Woodland Avenue, and 54th Street and Woodland Avenue. The thief stole a total of twelve batteries (six on each pole) having a total value of $1,200. Comcast officials said the thefts occurred between 11:07 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. July 28.
A Lisle woman was charged with a felony hit and run after police said she fled the scene of a three-car accident that occurred around 6:36 p.m. August 1, at the intersection of Wolf Road and 47th Street. According to the report, one of the other drivers at the scene had to be transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Diedra J. Butler, 34, was also charged with driving under the influence of drugs, no insurance and failure to yield.
