The Western Springs Recreation Department has a variety of early childhood classes that are available to the community. Session 6 classes are starting soon, and there is still room for your children to enjoy many different classes that run from October 26th-December 12th.

Our highly popular class, Craft and Cooking Creations, is available for your 3 year old-kindergartner. Your child will make a fun craft and a new tasty recipe each week. (recipes are nut free.) Class runs on Fridays from 9 – 11:45 am.

Masterpieces for Munchkins is a fun class for your 4-6 year old that teaches them about the great masters of art, while dabbling in different art techniques, and even getting cozy with the renowned illustrators of children’s literature. Some free playtime allows for small group instruction. Class is on Mondays from 1-3 pm.

Is your child ready to learn more about letter and numbers? A to Z is perfect for your 4 yr- kindergarten age child. It is offered on Monday mornings from 9-11 am. Each session will be different as we introduce and reinforce upper case letters, numbers, counting, sequencing, lower case letters, word families, consonant sounds, and vowel sounds. The day includes “Show and Tell” and “Free Choice” time, as well as weekly take-home projects that reinforce the day’s theme.

Does your child show an interest in math or science or just like hands on learning projects? Science for Sillies is a great opportunity to introduce your child to simple math and science concepts. The projects and experiments will encourage scientific curiosity. This class is for 4 year olds- kindergartners and it is offered on Fridays 1-3 pm.
