Registration Full for Western Springs Safety Village, Construction Begins

All 75 spots have been filled for the first Western Springs Safety Village program to take place in the permanent location near the Recreation Center, before the facility has even taken shape.

Construction is expected to wrap up by June 1, according to the Chicago Tribune, and the program should begin teaching kindergartners and first-graders best safety practices June 15 within a miniature Western Springs.

The Western Springs Recreation Department is considering adding a second program to meet the demand for the Safety Village, but for now, a wait list is in place.
