Rock-a-Thon brings in big donations

WLTL 88.1, managed to raise a grand total of $21,518 at its weekend Rock-a-Thon

Sandwiched between a major snow storm and a temporary power outage at North Campus, Lyons Township High School’s radio station, WLTL 88.1, managed to raise a grand total of $21,518 at its weekend Rock-a-Thon. After months of planning and preparation, the broadcast kicked off at 5am February 16 and concluded at 9:06pm February 19, for a total of 88.1 continuous hours. LTTV also broadcasted and streamed video live over the internet and cable.

Pledges will be used to purchase a new broadcast antenna as well as complete studio renovations for the South Campus radio studio. WLTL will also launch a new News/Talk/Sports streaming station on www.wltl.net to give more students the opportunity to be involved with the station.

In addition to listening to Rock-a-thon at 88.1 FM, the station’s social media presence was in full swing with interactive features, including live Twitter feeds.
