See Video: Western Springs Wants To ID Man

The police referred to the man as a "subject," but gave no other information.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — Western Springs police on Monday released a video of a man who appeared to be checking out a residential property at night.

On Facebook, police said they were attempting to identify "the subject." They gave no other information, including why they were interested.

The video came from a doorbell camera, which indicated the footage was taken about 8 p.m. New Year's Eve. Police did not say where the man was.

He appeared to be pulling something, perhaps a gate, that was not in the camera's frame. Then he learned over a fence into the yard.

The man was white, with shoulder-length blond hair tucked behind his ears. He was wearing blue jeans, a blue jacket, tennis shoes and a baseball cap.

A village spokeswoman told Patch that the police department did not wish to specify what the man was suspected of, if anything.
