The Chicago Zoological Society was happy to announce today that two female snow leopard cubs were born June 16 at the Brookfield Zoo, and we’re happy to announce they’re cute as heck.

The two 10-pound cubs are staying behind the scenes while they bond with their mother, 4-year-old Sarani. But you can still get your baby leopard fix with up-to-date photos from the Brookfield Zoo’s Facebook page.

Sarani was paired with her 5-year-old mate, Sabu, in Oct. 2011, on a recommendation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Snow Leopard Species Survival Plan, according to the Chicago Zoological Society.

Sarani came to Brookfield from Tautphaus Park Zoo in Idaho, and Sabu arrived from Cape May County Park & Zoo in New Jersey.

Sarani and Sabu had another snow leopard baby, Everest, in 2013. Everest is now at Lincoln Children’s Zoo in Lincoln, Nebraska, on a breeding loan.

Snow leopards are considered an endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. The Snow Leopard Trust estimates there are 4,000 and 6,500 remaining in the wild.
