A Solar Eclipse Is Coming and Thomas Ford Memorial Library Can Help You Make the Most of It!

Find out more at the Library on August 6, at our tent at McClure on August 21, and with our reading list and helpful staff.

On Monday, August 7, from 7-8:30 p.m., the Thomas Ford Library will have host this informational program: On August 21, 2017, for the first time in almost 30 years, a total solar eclipse will be visible from the continental U.S. in a 71-mile-wide path stretching from Oregon to South Carolina. From the Chicago area, about 85% of the Sun will be covered by the Moon. Learn about eclipses and how you can enjoy this exciting event! Then, during the actual eclipse on Monday, August 21, from 12-3 p.m., stop by our outdoor tent in McClure Junior High's field to receive a free pair of eclipse viewing glasses, or learn how to make your own pinhole projector to safely view this amazing event! McClure is located at 4225 Wolf Rd. No registration is needed.
