Speed Limit Drops On Key Western Springs Street

Even small reductions can improve safety, the police department said.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – The state installed new 30 mph speed limit signs on 47th Street in Western Springs, the village said in a news release Monday.

The state Department of Transportation has reduced the limit to 30 mph, from 35 mph, making it consistent with La Grange.

Western Springs police said speed contributes to 35 percent to 40 percent of all fatal crashes in Illinois.
