Spend An Evening With Broadway Legend Mitzi Hamilton at Theatre of Western Springs
TWS is offering a free lecture with Broadway legend Mitzi Hamilton on Oct. 3.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL -- Spend an evening with theater legend Mitzi Hamilton at Theatre of Western Springs. The free lecture starts at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, i n the Cattell Theatre at TWS, 4384 Hampton Ave., Western Springs.
Hamilton is best known for her association with Michael Bennett’s legendary "A Chorus Line." She provided the inspiration for the character of T&A gal Val, and she performed the role in the original London company, and, later, for 15 years on Broadway. She went on to direct and choreograph more than 50 productions of "A Chorus Line" in the United States, Europe and Asia.
"We are so pleased to welcome Ms. Hamilton to TWS," said Greg Kolack, TWS artist-in-residence who will be moderating the evening. "She is a theatrical icon, and well respected and loved in the industry. She has worked with some of the greatest directors on Broadway. Her experience not only with ‘ A Chorus Line,’ but also her 50 years in theatre will make this a fascinating evening.”
Hamilton’s performance career includes classic Broadway shows such as "Cabaret" and "Pippin." She was featured in the original casts of "Applause," "Seesaw," "On the Town" (revival) and "King of Hearts." Regional theatre credits include Nellie Forbush in "South Pacific" and the title role in "Sweet Charity."
She has been directed by such legends as Bob Fosse, Hal Prince, Ron Field and, of course, Michael Bennett.
Directing credits include "Damn Yankees," "Jesus Christ Superstar," "Gypsy," "Grease," "Sweet Charity," "The Sound of Music," "Ain't Misbehavin'," "Evita," "42nd Street," "Thoroughly Modern Millie," "La Cage Aux Folles," "Cats," "Curtains," "West Side Story" and Bob Fosse's "Chicago."
In 2008, Hamilton won Chicago's Jeff Award for Best Choreography for "Sweet Charity" at Drury Lane Oakbrook. She choreographed "Gypsy" at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater with Gary Griffin directing, and she co-directed and choreographed "A Chorus Line" with Gary Griffin at Drury Lane Oakbrook Theatre
In addition, Hamilton directed "A Chorus Line and "Ain't Misbehavin' " at Northwestern University..
