Summer Reading underway at Thomas Ford Library
Register now for great reading and events!

Registration is underway for children, tweens, teens, and adult Summer Reading Programs at the Thomas Ford Library. To register in person, come to 800 Chestnut St., Western Springs throughout the summer. To register online, click fordlibrary.org
While on the Library’s website, check out the dazzling array of programs and events that comprise the Summer Reading Programs. The offerings for young readers will fall under the themes of “Every Hero Has a Story” and “One Heroic Summer;” those for adults are themed “Groundbreaking Reads: Ideas that Shook the World.” All age groups will read, earn prizes, and have a great time. Here are some of the first events:
Friday, June 12, 1-2:30 PM: DIY Bicycle Maintenance for Grades 4-8 You ride your bike all over town, right? Find out the difference between a cassette and a derailleur, how to inflate your tires, or when your bike needs a more thorough going-over by a bicycle pro. This program is presented by experts from The Wheel Thing in LaGrange. You might even win a door prize of a gift card to the shop or other goodies!

Friday, June 12, 5-9 PM: Teen Fun at Gathering on the Green for Grades 6-12 Join our tween and teen services staff at Gathering on the Green for some fun!
Saturday, June 12 10 AM-1 PM: Ask the Master Gardener for kids and adults Have gardening questions only experts can answer or samples from plants to identify? Bring them to the University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners at Thomas Ford. The gardeners will also have displays and literature on composting, attracting birds, planting bulbs, and other gardening topics. This kid-friendly is drop-in at any time. No registration.
