Suspicious Person Offers Teenage Girl a Ride in La Grange

A suspicious man in a red car with a white stripe asked a 13-year-old girl if she needed a ride March 1 around 7:30 p.m. on La Grange Road.

The girl was walking home northbound on the west sidewalk next to La Grange Road, almost to Brewster Avenue, when the man stopped at a stop sign and asked her, “Need a ride?” according to La Grange police.

The girl was startled by the question, and she quickly moved away from the car and headed to a nearby friend’s house. The man drove away and didn’t try to contact the girl again, police reported.

The girl’s friend’s parents called La Grange Park police, and she was interviewed by a La Grange police officer, since the incident occurred in La Grange.

Police are not aware of any similar events involving this man or his car’s description. Anyone with information is asked to contact the La Grange Police Department’s Investigations Division at (708) 579-2333.
