WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — Western Springs residents may see discoloration and the presence of sediment in their water over the new few days as the result of recent maintenance, the city said in a news release Monday. The village conducted extensive external and internal maintenance on the Garden Market standpipe over the fall, a project that is now complete.

Beginning this week, the volume of the elevated storage tank will be slowly replenished to its capacity of 2 million gallons over a period of four to five days, the news release said. As the valve to fill the tank is reopened and the flow of water changes direction, some residents may experience changes in their water — much like those that result from annual hydrant flushing.

Any changes to the water should be temporary and resolve within a few hours. For more information, call the water department at 708-246-1800, ext. 214.
