Theatre Of Western Springs Presents 'Silent Sky'

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — The Theatre of Western Springs presents the first Mainstage play of its 90th season, “Silent Sky,” written by Lauren Gunderson and directed by Karen Holbert. The play takes place from Sept. 6 to 16, at TWS, 4384 Hampton Ave., Western Springs.

According to the theatre, the show will run at 8 p.m. on Sept. 6, 7, 8, 13, 14 and 15' 2:30 p.m. Sept. 9, 15 and 16; and at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 9. “Silent Sky” is the inspiring true story of astronomy’s “Hidden Figures” in the early 1900s. The theatre said the story blends science, family obligations and new love.

“The cast and crew are so excited to be presenting this work by Lauren Gunderson, one of today's most important female playwrights,” Holbert, the director of the show, said in a release. “In ‘Silent Sky,’ she tells the true story of an amazing group of female astronomers who helped us better understand the vastness of the universe. Their story is told with humor and love for all who look to the stars.”

The cast includes Karen Arnold of Westmont, Eileen Duban of Lisle, Carrie Cerri of La Grange, Mark MacLean of Willow Springs and Tammy O’Reilly of La Grange.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with this talented cast and dynamic crew and share the story of these amazing and historically important women,” Holbert said.
