Theatre of Western Springs Will Run "Wait Until Dark" Next Month

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL - The Theatre of Western Springs will present the fourth Mainstage play of its 88th season, “Wait Until Dark," by Frederick Knott and directed by TWS Artist-in-Residence Greg Kolack. The thriller runs April 20 - 30, at TWS, 4384 Hampton Ave., Western Springs.

The theatre said that due to extreme suspense, the play is recommended for age 10 and older.

Shows will take place at 8 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays (April 20, 21, 22, 27, 28 and 29); 2:30 p.m. on Sundays (April 23 and 30 and Saturday, April 29); and 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 23. There will also be Friday night talkbacks after the shows on April 21 and 28.

"Wait Until Dark" was first performed on Broadway in 1966 where it was a tremendous hit. It featured Lee Remick and Robert Duvall. The film version came out in 1967 featuring Audrey Hepburn and Alan Arkin.

"'Wait Until Dark' is one the greatest thrillers of the stage," Director Greg Kolack said in a release. "TWS is presenting this classic on its 50th anniversary. Although it is a half century old, it holds up remarkably well with its power to pull the audience in and literally make them jump out of their seats. It is complex, psychological, unpredictable and brilliantly written from beginning to end."
