Tornado Watch Issued for DuPage, Cook Counties
NWS says another round of storms could hit around 8 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for the Chicago area Monday night, following intense thunderstorms that brought heavy rain, lightning, hail and high winds to the area this morning.

The watch includes Cook, DuPage, Boone, DeKalb, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, La Salle, Lake, Livingston, McHenry and Will counties in Illinois, as well as Jasper, Lake, Newton and Porter counties in Indiana.

Another round of strong to severe storms could hit the area around 8 p.m., ABC7 reports. The watch is set to end at 11 p.m.
The City of Elmhurst is encouraging residents watch local forecasts and be prepared to act quickly if storm warnings are issued. Updates will be posted through the city’s Facebook page and with Notify Me messaging.

The Streets Division has prepared pallets of sandbags for residents to pick up and use, according to the city. There are additional sandbags, shovels, and sand available for residents to fill, if necessary. These materials are available in the parking lot of the Public Works Garage.
Low-lying areas and inlets have been checked, and several cycles of city street sweeping have been completed. Residents can assist the city by helping to keep inlets clear of debris.
