Two WS Fire and EMS Department Members Graduate from Paramedic Program

The Dec. 2014 graduates of the Loyola Paramedic program included two paid on call members of the Western Springs Fire and EMS Department.

Richard Griffith and James Walsh graduated Dec. 12, and 10 paid on call members and a medic who is now with another department attended the graduation to support Griffith and Walsh, according to a Western Springs news release.

Both graduates made it through the program on their own, according to the release. Their achievement is expected to enhance the department and its services.

“The Loyola University Medical Center (LUMC) Paramedic Program is an 11-month course of study based on the US DOT National EMS Education Standards (2009) and NHTSA National EMS Scope of Practice Model (2007) for paramedic instruction,” according to the news release. “The LUMC Paramedic Program is a nationally accredited program in the State of Illinois.”
