Unlocked Cars Broken Into: Western Springs Cops
No arrests have been reported in nearly three weeks in the village.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Two cars were broken into earlier this month, with items stolen from both, Western Springs police said.
In a driveway in the 800 block of 47th Street, a resident's wallet containing credit cards was stolen from a vehicle overnight Aug. 14, with fraudulent purchases reported, police said.
In another case, an unlocked car in a driveway was burglarized between the afternoon of Aug. 14 and the morning of Aug. 15 in the 5100 block of Caroline Avenue, police said. An iPad was stolen from the car.

The burglaries were about three blocks from each other.
On the crime front, Western Springs has been relatively quiet in recent weeks.

The last reported arrest was Aug. 4. Karl A. Decker, 25, of Des Plaines, was charged with driving with a revoked license and speeding. He was released on bond.
Here are the other reported crimes in August:
- A resident in the 1000 block of Linden Circle told police Aug. 4 that someone fraudulently used her personal information to open a debit account.
- A resident in the 5200 block of Ernst Court told police Aug. 15 that someone opened fraudulent Zelle and checking accounts using the resident's personal information.
- A resident in the 5000 block of Lawn Avenue told police Wednesday that someone cashed a fraudulent check for $3,200.
