Village Issues CodeRED Snow Emergency Alert

Snowfall of half a foot is expected; roads are currently very slippery.

The Village of Western Springs has issued a "snow emergency" alert through the CodeRED system in response to the ongoing snowfall, which is expected to reach approximately six inches of accumulation by tonight.

"We are asking all residents to not park their cars on the street so that the Pubic Works Department can clear the streets as quickly and easily as possible," the alert declared.

Director of Municipal Services Matt Supert also issued an e-mail alert that residents should keep parked cars off the roadway "for the next twelve hours."

The National Weather Service has also issued a "winter storm warning" and a "hazardous weather outlook" for the area.

Roads in and around Western Springs  are currently extremely slippery and precipitous; many have not yet been plowed.
