Village Notes: Winter Reminders, Parkway Tree Replacement
Also, a note on mandatory recycling of electronics.

The following is a collection of announcements from the official Western Springs Village website:
Winter Reminders
Now that snow and ice have finally begun to show in Western Springs, the Village is reminding residents to keep a few things in mind. Residents are encouraged to shovel their sidewalks, as well as the area around nearby fire hydrants and refuse containers/bags. Drivers should be extra careful and slow down, as well as remove their cars from the street following any snowfall (street parking is prohibited for 12 hours after any snowfall.)

2012 Tree Replacement Program
As usual, the Village is offering a program to pay for 75 percent of the cost to plant/replace any trees on the parkway outside Villagers' homes. The trees are $350, including delivery and planting costs; the Village will pay for all but $80 of that. Trees are between eight and 15 feet tall. Villagers can mark their preference for type of tree (although first choice is not guaranteed.) The Village "urges residents to take advantage of this opportunity to increase the value and beauty of our neighborhoods and ensure the future health of our urban forest." The form for replacement can be found here.
