Western Springs Behind Neighbors In DUI Arrests
The village's police department was last among surveyed towns.
WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Western Springs officers made fewer drunken-driving arrests last year than those in neighboring towns, a study released this week shows.
In 2023, Western Springs officers recorded two DUI arrests, putting it 115th among Illinois towns, according to the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists. That works out to 0.1 arrests per officer. Western Springs reported having 22 officers last year.
Officers Taylor Ficke and Shawn Kamal each made one DUI arrest last year, the alliance said.
